Treats and Training - the OSH FACTors

Time: 1:01 PM

Event Location & Address: 550 Lakeshore Dr. NE Box 100, Stn Main Salmon Arm, BC V1E 4S4

Hosting Organization: Ministry Of Children & Family Development (MCFD)

Event Description: We are having our 3rd Annual "Lunch & Learn" aka "Treats & Training" on May 5/10 at the office. We have a $75 max budget, and we are planning the event for the early afternoon, for snacks and healthy food, games, quizzes and "OSH FACTors" Following recent NAOSH event successes in 2008, and 2009... and in keeping with playoff hockey, we are striving for a hat-trick. The $75.00 will be spent primarily on food /catering of appetizers and snacks for the afternoon. In the interest of health and wellness we are anticipating some creative and healthy munchies to occupy the time as we learn about OSH related issues. These OSH matters (“the OSH-FACTors” if you like) , may include, but are not limited to ... work related hazards, reporting MVA accidents and procedures, the new cell phone law, identifying first aid attendants and fire wardens, having a First Aid Drill - how to respond in cases where first aid is required by a staff-member or client etc., an OSH related quiz to name / identify committee members / roles, an allergy alert (nuts, bee stings), a stress ball toss, perhaps a scavenger hunt of OSH related items or trivia knowledge... the possibilities and ideas are still being tweaked. We intend to have door prizes (a Darwin Awards book to the most "deserving" for example), and treats as rewards for participation and correct responses (or perhaps any response). Probably some pictorial evidence of the event. We will promote the event with posters, emails to entire office, perhaps a small token item (bandages) as a curiosity grabber... keeping it light- hearted and fun. We typically have visiting professionals in the building on Wednesdays also, so that will add to the intrigue. DISCLAIMER - no staff were injured during the planning of this event.
